Call Me Donovan General Why I Haven’t Released Any New Content

Why I Haven’t Released Any New Content

For those of you that know me and have followed me for any length of time, you know I started podcasting at the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011 (I can’t really remember). I enjoy the medium. I really do. For a while, me and the boys were doing a new version of SouthGeek called SouthGeek News. Unfortunately, I just didn’t enjoy it anymore — let’s be honest, it’s hard to compete with some of the long standing and successful tech podcasts that are out there. Why should I waste my time trying to compete with them? They do a great job, better than I can do; and I have nothing really new to offer.

I’m 51 and my wife and I have just celebrated our 31st year of marriage. As I get older, I’m discovering I care less and less about more and more. There’s news I could comment on, but why? The Trump years really burned me out with the hatred I have for the man. He’s not gone, but now that he’s not in charge, I don’t have any real reason to comment on politics. I leave that to others like Justin Robert Young (his podcast is A+). Being that angry at a man that I’ve never met wasn’t really healthy for my mental state anyways.

I follow the headlines, but I really don’t have that much to offer anymore. What’s the point, eh?

I’m geared up, I can do pretty much anything that’s needed for a podcast. I just don’t have the desire or drive to put anything out anymore. I’m not sure if 2020 burned me out or what, but I’m sure it didn’t help. Podcasting should be fun and I haven’t been able to find that “fun” in any ideas I’ve come up with. Don Talk is just that…me…talking and expressing my opinions on whatever. But, let’s be honest — who the hell cares what I think? LOL

I get up in the mornings and start my day, probably just like 99% of people. I coast through the day, fixing the problems that my clients pay me to fix (I’m an IT Consultant for my full time job/business). But, beyond that, I have no desire to express my thoughts in such a public forum as a podcast right now. I hope that changes, I really do. As I said before, I love podcasting. I guess right now podcasting just doesn’t love me.
